Ever since they were released in PoE Patch 2.3.0 during the Prophecy League – prophecies have become an integral element of the game.
They help you juice out the content you’re playing though, complete achievements and challenges, and they make the game a heck of a lot more fun overall.
However, to much surprise, there are still quite a few people that don’t know how they work, why they’re amazing, and how they can use them to maximize their profit in PoE.
That’s why today we’ve put together a quick and comprehensive PoE prophecy guide to help you wrap your head around the mechanic and leverage it to take your gameplay to the next level.
What Are Prophecies In PoE & What Do They Do?
In Path of Exile, prophecies are essentially a mechanic that impacts your character’s future. You can purchase them from Navali for a single Silver Coin. And once you’ve obtained a few, they’ll all be stored in the Prophecy Screen.
They can force specific encounters, modify particular outcomes, and trigger based on a specific condition.
Unlike a lot of the bonus content mechanics – prophecies don’t trigger any particular quests. They simply give you a particular condition that needs to be fulfilled and voila, you’ve got the reward on your hands!
However, the reward is generally not something you can turn in to Navali. The reward mechanic for a given prophecy is the prophecy itself.
What are some of the rewards that prophecies offer?
Prophecies in PoE are quite lucrative because they generally offer tonnes of rewards like currency, item drops, additional monsters, and loads more loot.
This makes certain prophecies like Monstrous Treasure incredibly popular and profitable because they add a lot of extra monsters to your map or instance. Now, if your map is already juiced up with extra monster and drop modifiers – you’re going to see an avalanche of currency and loot (don’t forget to set up your PoE loot filter sounds to make sure you don’t miss any loot). So keep reading our PoE prophecy guide to learn all about how you can take your game-play to the next level with this nifty mechanic!
How Do You Use Prophecies In PoE?
One of the more common currency drops is a Silver Coin. Once you’ve stashed away a few of them, you should head over to your player hideout in PoE or to the Act 1 Town where Navali will be waiting for you (we’ve covered how to get her into the town inside of our PoE Act 1 Leveling Guide).
Activating & Viewing Your Prophecies
Talk to Navali and buy a prophecy from her. Each prophecy that you unveil will cost a single Silver Coin.
Once you’ve purchased some prophecies from Navali, you can view the ones you’ve got active inside of the Prophecies Screen. You can open the screen by selecting the “View Your Prophecies” option when talking to Navali or simply hitting the H key if you’re using the default keybindings in PoE.
Sealing Away Prophecies
If you’re just not one with the RNG forces and can’t seem to roll the prophecy you want – you can actually seal them for an additional silver coin and sell them to other players.
This is done using the Seal option while having a prophecy selected in the Prophecy Screen.
However, while it may be tempting to seal away any and all prophecies, keep in mind that some are worthwhile to do for the league rewards and achievement completion. In addition to this, only a handful of prophecies are actually profitable to seal and sell. And if you’re not sure which is which, you can use a tool like PoE.ninja to get an estimate of what the prophecies you roll may be worth.
Generally, we recommend sealing prophecies if they fall under one of the following conditions:
- When the prophecy is in demand and allows you to recuperate part of your currency investment.
- When a prophecy is worth decent currency.
- When the prophecy is an absolute thorn in your hind-side.
It’s also useful to keep some of the most frequent “low-value” PoE prophecies active to make sure they can’t roll again. You may be using up a few of your 7 prophecy slots, but you’ll be rolling from a far more favorable pool of options.
Completing Your Prophecies
Now, let’s say you’ve rolled the prophecies you care about and now you want to finish them off. So, how do you actually run them and complete them?
First and foremost, prophecies in PoE generally have an automatic completion criterion. They also trigger automatically based on the conditions laid out in the prophecy.
You can track the status of your prophecy using the purple quest indicators on the right side of your game interface in Path of Exile.
Most of the time, the condition is related to a specific event, or simply entering a particular zone.
Once you’re procced the prophecy, you’ll need to finish the encounter, and voila – you’ve got loot!
Pretty simple, huh?
But, can you leave the zone without losing the prophecy? The answer here is yes – as long as you don’t reset the instance, you can leave and rejoin the zone via a portal and keep the prophecy you spawned.
What Are The Types Of Prophecies Available In PoE?
To help illustrate the concept that much more, we’ve added this nifty list to cover the majority of prophecies that our PoE prophecy guide has to do with.

What Are The Best PoE Prophecies?
Of course, our PoE prophecy guide wouldn’t be complete without giving you a peek at some of the best PoE prophecies.
The Most Valuable Prophecies
As of patch 3.11.0e, these are the most valuable prophecies in the game.
- The Queen’s Sacrifice – This prophecy provides the upgrade for Atziri’s Mirror turning it into the far more powerful and valuable Atziri’s Reflection.
- Trash To Treasure – This prophecy allows you to turn a normal item into a unique with one chance orb. This is useful for incredibly endgame build and achievement hunting.
